About

Education and experience:

In 1999 I completed a 1 year computer technician and networking program at a private technical institute. By the time I completed my certification, I had taken over the role as the resident hardware technician, repairing all the school computers, running new networking cable, setting up and managing the network infrastructure. I was also given the opportunity (and took full advantage) of sitting in on any of the courses offered. Web design, Graphic design, Computer languages, Advanced Security….I was a proverbial kid in a candy store!

I value the initial education and diploma I acquired, however things change very rapidly in the tech world. The 14 years of hands on experience I have gained has been invaluable.

My biggest asset is my ability to learn, and adapt to the constant change that surrounds me.

I moved to Muskoka in 2002 and hand delivered a small flyer advertising computer services. From that point forward my business has grown steadily by word of mouth alone. In a small community word spreads fast. I believe the growth of my business is a testament to the quality of service I provide my customers.

I will do as much or as little as you need. I want to empower my customers and provide them with the tools that will allow them to do more, be more efficient and safe.

Check out my blog where I will provide FREE information that will be of value to you and your business.

Personal Stuff and Other Projects:

Sure I work with computers, but computers is not who I am. However, my interests are as varied as the internet!

Here is a list and some links to other things I have my hands in:

  • Virtual Vankoughnet is a community based website that I created to showcase/socialize and promote all the amazing things in this great little neighbourhood.
  • The Village Voice is a monthly print (and now online) publication that I have been involved with since 2002.
  • The Vankoughnet Cup is a 3 on 3 outdoor shinny (ice hockey) tournament/community event that I created/host/organize and even play in! I made custom designed Puck Logo’s, Trophies, and even made a video which you can see by clicking the link.
  • The Village Park Skating rink. I did not make this facility however in 2006 I decided to take on the job of maintaining the facility because township maintenance had ended a few years prior. I have been maintaining it ever since and now have the support of the many great community members and it sees a lot of use. Seeing so many kids out using it gives me a humbling sense of accomplishment. click the link to see the rink
  • Check out my personal Youtube channel for an eclectic mix of videos I created. From outdoor shinny (ice hockey), picking wild leeks to hatching monarch butterflies, to the friendliest wild ruffed grouse you ever saw…and back to the rink of course!
  • Beyond the above, I have a passion for learning. Old technology fascinates me. I haven’t found a sport I don’t like to play and I don’t get bored of board games!
